Slate Fork Moonshine Cocktail Recipes

Slate Fork Moonshine started as a family recipe in one of our founder’s home kitchen in Southern Appalachia. That same recipe sparked the idea for Southern Kentucky Distillery. Today it comes in six sweet flavors plus our 100 proof Stump Water for anyone who wants more kick.

Below are the drinks we pour at the distillery. Each core flavor gets its own house cocktail, plus a handful of creative combinations our tasting room guests keep asking for.

Slate Fork Moonshine

Pa's Purple Passion

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Slate Fork Dingleberry Moonshine
  • 1 oz Slate Fork Stump Water Moonshine
  • Sprite
  • Ice

How to make it

  1. Fill a cup with ice.
  2. Pour in the Dingleberry Moonshine and Stump Water Moonshine.
  3. Top with Sprite and stir.

Granny's Sweet Secret

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Slate Fork Green Apple Moonshine
  • 1 oz Slate Fork Stump Water Moonshine
  • Sprite
  • Ice

How to make it

  1. Fill a cup with ice.
  2. Pour in the Green Apple Moonshine and Stump Water Moonshine.
  3. Top with Sprite and stir.

Watermelon Smash

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Slate Fork Watermelon Moonshine
  • 1 oz Slate Fork Stump Water Moonshine
  • Sprite
  • Ice

How to make it

  1. Fill a cup with ice.
  2. Pour in the Watermelon Moonshine and Stump Water Moonshine.
  3. Top with Sprite and stir.

Twisted Strawberry

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Slate Fork Strawberry Lemonade Moonshine
  • 1 oz Slate Fork Stump Water Moonshine
  • Sprite
  • Ice

How to make it

  1. Fill a cup with ice.
  2. Pour in the Strawberry Lemonade Moonshine and Stump Water Moonshine.
  3. Top with Sprite and stir.

Midnight Moon

  • 2 oz Slate Fork Blackberry Moonshine
  • 1 oz Slate Fork Stump Water Moonshine
  • Sprite
  • Ice

Porch Peach Kicker

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Slate Fork Party Peach Moonshine
  • 1 oz Slate Fork Stump Water Moonshine
  • Sprite
  • Ice

How to make it

  1. Fill a cup with ice.
  2. Pour in the Party Peach Moonshine and Stump Water Moonshine.
  3. Top with Sprite and stir.

Once you know the core six, these are the next drinks worth trying. A few bring in Ancient Sun Vodka for extra depth.

Mint Moonjito

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Slate Fork Stump Water Moonshine
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup
  • 0.5 oz lime juice
  • 3 to 4 mint leaves
  • Soda water

How to make it

  1. Muddle the mint leaves with the simple syrup and lime juice.
  2. Add ice and the Stump Water Moonshine.
  3. Top with soda water and stir.
  4. For a flavored version, swap in 0.5 oz of any Slate Fork flavor.

Fuzzy Navel

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Slate Fork Party Peach Moonshine
  • 1 oz Slate Fork Stump Water Moonshine
  • Orange juice
  • Ice

How to make it

  1. Fill a cup with ice.
  2. Pour in the Party Peach Moonshine and Stump Water Moonshine.
  3. Top with orange juice and stir.

Apple Berry Spritz

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Slate Fork Blackberry Moonshine
  • 1 oz Slate Fork Green Apple Moonshine
  • 1 oz Slate Fork Stump Water Moonshine
  • Sprite
  • Ice

How to make it

  1. Fill a cup with ice.
  2. Pour in the Blackberry, Green Apple, and Stump Water Moonshine.
  3. Top with Sprite and stir.

Colorado Koolaid

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Slate Fork Party Peach Moonshine
  • 1 oz Slate Fork Stump Water Moonshine
  • Red Bull
  • Ice

How to make it

  1. Fill a glass with ice.
  2. Pour in the Party Peach Moonshine and Stump Water Moonshine.
  3. Top with Red Bull and stir.

Caramel Appletini

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz Ancient Sun Vodka
  • 1 oz Slate Fork Green Apple Moonshine
  • 1 oz apple juice (or pineapple juice)
  • 0.5 oz caramel syrup
  • Ice

How to make it

  1. Drizzle caramel syrup around the inside of a chilled martini glass.
  2. Shake the vodka, Green Apple Moonshine, and apple juice with ice.
  3. Strain into the martini glass.

Strawberry Lemonade Mule

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Ancient Sun Vodka
  • 2 oz Slate Fork Strawberry Lemonade Moonshine
  • 1 oz lemonade
  • 0.5 oz lime juice
  • Ginger beer
  • Ice

How to make it

  1. Fill a copper mug or glass with ice.
  2. Add the vodka, Strawberry Lemonade Moonshine, lemonade, and lime juice.
  3. Top with ginger beer and stir.
